XBS Care Foundation

We have a social responsibility to do what’s best for people, the planet, and society at large. XBS as an organization is committed to making this a better place through introduction of improvements in Sustainability, Environment, Education, Quality of Life, Equal Opportunity, Healthcare and many other impact areas through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) actions. XBS Care Foundation is the initiative that encompasses these commitments under one umbrella and governing body.

With a council formed by responsible Xbians the initiative is self-driven and well controlled.

Through its humble beginnings, we focus on three key themes today:

1. Support for Education

With the introduction of impact due to COVID 19, the education system has gone through a complete overhaul. The new ways of learning has set in, making it still possible to teach students spread across places.

At the same time, this has introduced a challenge for many parents and students who can not afford to buy gadgets to connect to the classes and continue their studies.

XBS has started the theme ‘Support for Education’ for this very specific need.

Through our key contacts across the region, we identify genuine candidates and conduct a systematic due diligence exercise. We organize gadgets for these smart students who are struggling, thereby empowering the smart leaders of the future.

We intent to work with like-minded organizations and individuals to identify the right candidates and expand the support that we provide today in the interest of expanding the reach of this initiative.

As a Technology Leader, XBS wishes to provide mentorship and support for smart students who wish to learn technology early in their careers. This shall better prepare them if they wish to pursue a career in technology.

XBS Care Foundation started its first engagement through the "Support for Education" Initiative in the month of September, 2021.

Our council identified an aspiring student, who due to his already underprivileged circumstances and with Covid-19 heavily affecting his family's income, had little hopes in pursuing his Class X studies. When engaged with his teachers, XBS could see the potential in this young student and offered our support by handing over a 4G Mobile Handset. With classes being online, this small gesture helped him continue his studies remotely. XBS wishes the very best to his Class X examination and to his bright future.

2. Reuse, Contribute

We all accumulate many items at our homes and many a times some of these items may end up being unused. At some point in time we may throw them away as well, making it of no use - through the life span of the item.

If we explore, we may come across objects that will be of use to others if handed over at the right time. This may include clothing, shoes, accessories, children’s books, common library items and learning materials, electronics, furniture, toys and games, baby gear, bedding, blankets, etc.

With the help of our employees, XBS has started exploring ways to make these items available for the needy.

We are in the process of collecting the items and establishing distribution channels for these artefacts.

3. Reduce

As an Information Technology (IT) heavy organization, we have moved away from the use of physical electronic material as much as possible. E.g., migrated away from physical data centre / servers and adopted cloud solutions – IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.

Instead of purchasing new electronic devices such as laptops for every Xbian who joins us, we have let them use their own devices under the BYOD (Bring Your Own Devices) program, thereby reducing the use of additional electronic devices.

Through the use of cloud storage, electronic signatures and secure online document management, a large extent of our printing needs have been reduced over time, with the intent of making our offices paperless

Our Centres of Excellence and Knowledge Management initiatives ensure reuse of information, artefacts and capabilities once built thereby reducing the need to produce them afresh for future needs. The human capital freed up through these actions are put to better use in the long run.

We allow people to work from home as they prefer thereby reducing the contribution towards carbon foot print, travels and pollution.

As a product company XBS has already developed Intellectual Properties (IPs) that contribute to reduction of carbon emissions, improve productivity and predictability. We continue to do research and development of products and features to make cities ‘Smart’.
